Monsoon Climate (Am): Cochin, India, on a windward coast at lat. 10 N shows an extreme peak of rainfall during the rainy monsoon, contrasting with a short dry season at time of the low sun.  The summer monsoon is the wet season.  A thermal low from heating inland reverses the Tradewinds, which then bring moist air inland, from the Indian Ocean.   Topographic (orographic) uplift increases the precipitation.  Over 65 cm (26) in precip. in wettest month.  292 cm (115 in)  annual total precip. Almost a dry season -- Dec, Jan, Feb. Heavy rain almost makes up for drier period, vegetation wise.
