- Cranial nerves are similar in some ways to spinal nerves, which are
probably more familiar to you. Both cranial and spinal nerves link the central nervous
system (CNS) to the periphery. Cranial nerves attach to the forebrain and brain stem;
spinal nerves attach to the spinal cord.
- The upper picture shows cranial and spinal nerves of a human and
their attachments to the CNS. The dissection was done by Drs. Visaka Limwongse and
Juttisee Sangvichian at the Dental School of Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand
