4.5 Carbonate Solubility and Mixing/Buffer Intensity in the Presence of Carbonates

OVERVIEW

You will learn to deal with mixing of natural waters in cases in which solid minerals are involved. You will also explore the effect of the presence of solid carbonate minerals on the buffer intensity of natural waters.

KEY CONCEPTS

  1. How to perform mixing calculations when minerals are present or may precipitate
  2. How to calculate the effect the presence of carbonate minerals has on buffer intensity
