Overall Course Objectives

  To provide a fundamental background in thermodynamics and apply this background to geological problems.

 
Recommended Background Preparation
   The minimum background preparation required is freshman chemistry and some basic knowledge of geology. Knowledge of differential calculus is also highly recommended. Previous classes in geochemistry and/or physical chemistry would be helpful, but are not absolutely necessary.
