As you can see from
the course outline, this course is divided into five general
topics. In general, we will spend anywhere from one to four
weeks on each topic. The website has a page corresponding to
each topic. On each topic page you will find the following
information:
1) A list of learning objectives for the topic to help guide
your studies.
2) Required and recommended reading corresponding to the
topic.
3) Lecture notes for the topic in the form of both Powerpoint
and PDF files.
4) Problem sets relevant to the topic.
HOMEWORK: On average, one
homework assignment will be due each week. You will download your
homework assignment from the web. No hardcopies will be handed
out in class. On Wednesday one week before the assignment is
due, I will announce in class the number of the problem set
you should be working on and its due date. Normally the problem set will be due at the beginning of class on the
next Wednesday after that. Thus, you will have a week from the time I alert you
about the problem set until it is due. The solutions to the
problem set will be posted on the web immediately after class
on the due date. Therefore, NO LATE HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS CAN
BE ACCEPTED FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER.
You will be permitted to drop one and only
one homework assignment during the course of the semester, no
questions asked.
