Gateway to Mathematics offered its first on-line course Spring Term 2006, Math 170 Calculus & Analytic Geometry I.  The course continues to be refined and has served 35 students over the past three spring semesters.

 The Instructor

Cynthia Piez is a Senior Instructor of Mathematics at the University of Idaho.  She is interested in the impact of technology on the teaching and learning of mathematics at the undergraduate level.  In particular she is working with prospective secondary mathematics teachers and investigating the ways in which they interpret and link various representations.

The Technology 

The Gateway to Mathematics Project employs state-of-the-art web-based instructional materials and educational technologies.  Course instructional materials and technologies form the basis for a rich mathematical dialogue between instructor and students.  Click here for a video orientation to Gateway technologies.
