The Central Asia Database (CAD) at the University of Idaho is developing to facilitate public access to long-term terrestrial observational data collected in central Asia archives (50-100 years records) and data from numerous expeditions and fieldtrips accomplished since 1975 by authors and their colleagues from central Asia, Russia, USA, Japan, UK, Germany, Switzerland, and China. The CAD will also contain datasets derived from remote sensed data acquired in NASA and other national space agencies.
All data collected for this research are checked for homogeneity of observational series, representativeness, and the presence of random errors. Each time series has been plotted and inspected for “gross” errors. Data quality control implemented the recommendations of Easterling et al. [1995], and the developed analysis of Groisman and Rankova [2002] of meteorological quality control/assurance.
