Mission statement

The Central Asia Database (CAD) at the University of Idaho was created to facilitate access to instrumental environmental archives on Central Asia as well as disseminate scientific results of glacier-climatic research group at the University of Idaho .

Types of data

Note: Currently (October 2006) only a subset of data is available on-line. Please check back regularly for updates.
  • daily and monthly observations of more than 400 meteorological stations in Tien Shan, Altai, Pamir.
  • monthly runoff data of 200 river gauges in Tien Shan
  • snow courses data for Tien Shan
  • GIS data: maps, vector data sets, DEMs
  • glacier changes: area, volume changes
  • snow cover changes

Data sources

Meteorological and hydrological data were collected by from national meteorological archives (Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan) and field observations.
