Dr. Cantrell studies the
evolution and function of mammalian retrotransposons, particularly
LINE-1 elements, and the effects of these elements on genome
evolution.
How often
and to what degree is the fitness change of pairs of single
beneficial point mutations additive? I suspect that additivity in this
case is not the norm and currently I am conducting experiments with
the phage ID11 to test this hypothesis.
