Research:

I am trying to use population genetics tools to model / analyze the long term phage evolution and to explain the rather puzzling "constant adaptation rate" of phage evolution in a constant environment (Genetics 170: 19-31).  In the retrospective, some key parameters (mutation rate, recombination rate, etc.) can be estimated using serial sequence data. While in the prospective, I am motivated, by the data, to study the advantage of recombination in the context of "adaptive walk" (Nature Genetics 37, 441-444) and density dependent selection.
