Research:

We can observe the set of beneficial single point mutations in the first step in an adaptive walk along with their respective fitness changes. The question of additivity can then be addressed, how often and to what degree is the fitness change of pairs of these single beneficial point mutations additive? I suspect that additivity in this case is not the norm and currently I am conducting experiments with the phage ID11 to test this hypothesis.
