| Jason is a senior at the University of Idaho,
majoring in Biology. He has performed neuroscience research within two
different labs in the Department of Biological Sciences, first in
Dr. Deborah Stenkamp’s lab and now in the Magnusson lab. He helped
to set up the new San Diego Instruments SMART tracking system in our
behavioral testing room. This software tracks the animal’s swim path
during testing and can be used to analyze many different
characteristics of the animal’s performance. Jason worked with young
mice this summer to develop a working memory protocol that can test
both immediate and delayed working memory. Jason is now performing
data analysis on the behavioral experiments. He has developed an Excel
macro to correct the measurements for start position and swim speed.
This is particularly important in the working memory task. He
continues to perform behavioral testing on animals with reduced
functioning of the NMDA receptors. |
