Research Interests:
|
| Biological, chemical and physical factors that influence the genetic
diversity and species composition of microbial communities. Characterization of
succession within communities that occurs in response to environmental change
and perturbations. Spatial and temporal patterns of diversity in microbial
communities. Characterization of genetic loci that determine microbial
competitiveness. Tempo and mechanisms of genetic change particularly genome
plasticity (asexual recombination) and the influence of environmental factors on
mutation frequencies. Genetic mechanisms of catabolic pathway evolution, and the
evolution of enzyme substrate specificity. Biodegradation of environmental
contaminants and plasmid diversity. |
