The Palouse Basin Aquifer Committee (PBAC)
consists of representatives from the cities of Moscow, Idaho,
Pullman and Colfax, Washington, Latah
and Whitman counties, and the University of
Idaho and Washington
State In addition, the city of Palouse,
Washington provides financial support, but
is not a PBAC
member.
The general makeup
of the Committee is such that each entity is
represented by a technical person and
an elected or administrative
official. The Committee has been in place in
various forms since 1967, and since
1992 has been
recognized
by the Idaho Department of Water Resources (IDWR) and the Washington
Department of Ecology (WDOE) as the
entity responsible for the administration of the basin’s
ground
water resources.
