Ground water interaction with more than 2000 lakes, 

93,000 miles of streams, and 232 hot springs! 

 

About 30% of the fresh water on earth is ground water.  All the rivers and lakes combined account 

for less than 1%.  The rest is tied up in icecaps and glaciers mainly in Greenland and Antarctica.

A Long and Proud Tradition of Excellence!

The University of Idaho – Hydrology Program is a long-established program of ground water science with a rich history in applied research and graduate education. 

 

Since founded in 1966, by the late Roy E. Williams, the Hydrology Program has awarded more than 155 M.S. Hydrology* degrees.

The University of Idaho - M.S. Hydrology Program is all about individual hands-on, applied research and training 

to help solve real-world problems in ground water resources and the environment in preparation for national 

and international job markets.

*B.S.  Degree in Geology with Hydrogeology Option, M.S. Degree in Hydrology, and Ph.D degree in Geology (Hydrogeology) are offered.   Our graduates are employed throughout the United States and internationally.
